the ten commandments

ten commandments - the association with the bible is not far.
dieter rams put a more positive phrasing than the biblical "you shall not..."
- still easier to follow the bible than these high principles of design.
But; where there's a will, there's a way! (:

i'll meet you there

'the horizon is always an impossible place of destination. It is the point where the discernible becomes indiscernible, where one can disappear. It is at an unreachable distance because it is always away from where you are, yet still in the realm of the visible. It is always where you can never be, yet you can always see it. Like a photograph or film, it is only tangible with the eyes.'

[David Horvitz / 'I'll meet you here']

Kurt Schwitters und die Rekonstruktion der Sprache

An Anna Blume

Oh Du, Geliebte meiner 27 Sinne, ich liebe Dir!
Du, Deiner, Dich Dir, ich Dir, Du mir, ---- wir?
Das gehört beiläufig nicht hierher!
Wer bist Du, ungezähltes Frauenzimmer, Du bist, bist Du?
Die Leute sagen, Du wärest.
Laß sie sagen, sie wissen nicht, wie der Kirchturm steht.
Du trägst den Hut auf Deinen Füßen und wanderst auf die Hände,
Auf den Händen wanderst Du.
Halloh, Deine roten Kleider, in weiße Falten zersägt,
Rot liebe ich Anna Blume, rot liebe ich Dir.
Du, Deiner, Dich Dir, ich Dir, Du mir, ----- wir?
Das gehört beiläufig in die kalte Glut!
Anna Blume, rote Anna Blume, wie sagen die Leute?
Preisfrage:
1. Anna Blume hat ein Vogel,
2. Anna Blume ist rot.
3. Welche Farbe hat der Vogel?
Blau ist die Farbe Deines gelben Haares,
Rot ist die Farbe Deines grünen Vogels.
Du schlichtes Mädchen im Alltagskleid,
Du liebes grünes Tier, ich liebe Dir!
Du Deiner Dich Dir, ich Dir, Du mir, ---- wir!
Das gehört beiläufig in die ---- Glutenkiste.
Anna Blume, Anna, A----N----N----A!
Ich träufle Deinen Namen.
Dein Name tropft wie weiches Rindertalg.
Weißt Du es Anna, weißt Du es schon,
Man kann Dich auch von hinten lesen.
Und Du, Du Herrlichste von allen,
Du bist von hinten, wie von vorne:
A------N------N------A.
Rindertalg träufelt STREICHELN über meinen Rücken.
Anna Blume,
Du tropfes Tier,
Ich-------liebe-------Dir!

vienna, volatile city

In 1928, Josephine Baker spent three weeks in Vienna as part of her European tour. Her visit there caused a tremendous commotion within this already volatile city. She recalled, in one of her autobiographies, that “The capital was flooded with leaflets denouncing me as the “black devil.” . . it was made clear that I was the embodiment of moral decadence.” Baker’s visit finally resulted in a special debate held in the Austrian parliament which addressed the impact of her visit on the status of public morality.

the art of skateboarding

the philosophy of the board .
last saturday i passed by a nice shop and an even nicer shopassistant, who was also talkative. when i got out, i knew all about sneakers and, more important, about the life with a board. he also told me about an exhibition of the art of skateboarders. i was there, i didn't dare to talk to any supercool skater, but i tasted some of the spirit of this culture, which kept inspiring me.

Edwin

edwin the teddybear is not a teddybear. what i thought was this stuffed animal's name, is actually a label from japan.

the bear was a souvenir from japan, where edwin is a big thing.

this video best shows who edwin really is:

if you got curious (because of the cute teddy or the cool brad), check out one of these ( or why not both) shops in vienna:
www.arnolds.at
www.e35shop.com

Jakob (Arnold's) and Sby (e35) will show you edwin (the jeans not the teddy).

go went gone

For what is time? Who can easily and briefly explain it? Who even in thought can comprehend it, even to the pronouncing of a word concerning it? But what in speaking do we refer to more familiarly and knowingly than time? And certainly we understand when we speak of it; we understand also when we hear it spoken of by another. What, then, is time? If no one ask of me, I know; if I wish to explain to him who asks, I know not. Yet I say with confidence, that I know that if nothing passed away, there would not be past time; and if nothing were coming, there would not be future time; and if nothing were, there would not be present time. Those two times, therefore, past and future, how are they, when even the past now is not; and the future is not as yet? But should the present be always present, and should it not pass into time past, time truly it could not be, but eternity. If, then, time present — if it be time — only comes into existence because it passes into time past, how do we say that even this is, whose cause of being is that it shall not be — namely, so that we cannot truly say that time is, unless because it tends not to be?

african lace

when it came to africa, my omniscient history teacher said, "well, africa, i have to admit, i cannot tell you much about it, i don't really know whats going on there"
actually, africa cannot be too strange to austria, as they have a long business-relationship in the textile-industry. the traditional african clothes are made of austrian lace. the lace goes with the "Völkerkundemuseum"(Vienna) also quite well!
